Spotlight: Sunflare Garden – When Green Foil Meets Neon Brights
Share
Welcome back to the blog!
Today, I want to take a moment to shine a spotlight on a specific piece that has been bringing some serious energy to the studio lately: "Sunflare Garden."
If you have been following my work, you know I love working with reflective surfaces. Usually, I work on silver or gold foil cardstock because of how beautifully they reflect light. But for this piece, I decided to experiment with something a little different: Green Foil.
The Inspiration
"Sunflare Garden" was born from a desire to create something that felt organic but electric. I wanted to capture that feeling of a garden at "golden hour"—when the sun hits the plants just right, and everything seems to glow.
Using the green metallic base gave the piece an immediate botanical depth. On top of that shimmering background, I layered vibrant acrylics in neon pink, zesty orange, and sunshine yellow.
Visual Dopamine
I talk a lot about "visual dopamine," and this piece is the perfect example of what I mean.
Because the background is reflective green, it doesn't just sit flat on the wall. It interacts with the room. As you move past it, the green shifts, and the bright warm colors pop against it in a way that makes your eyes feel excited. It’s a little burst of happiness framed on the wall.
See it in Motion
It is notoriously hard to capture the magic of foil art in a static photo, but I did my best to snap a picture that shows off the texture (see below!).
